What A Real Friend Should Be

Yesterday, I wrote about friends and how they come in different shades. Today I want to talk about what a real friend should be. In life journey, you need a friend, someone you can count on, someone that can hold you so that you don't slip. For you to achieve your goals in life, you need not just a friend but a real one. A real friend must be able to help you in becoming a better person. A real friend should correct you when you are going wrong. He or she should not hesitate to point out your mistakes. A real friend will first put your benefit above all other things. For a real friend, your interest is what matters first. Because, life's journey is full of ups and downs, we cannot travel alone. The best thing is to look for real friend who can help you, who can hold you so that you will not fall. A real friend should be there for you for better or worse. It is easy to know a real friend and the best way to know is when you are facing a difficult time.
I want to share with you a story I found on internet to illustrates what a real friend should be. "This is a story about two friends whose ship was wretched during a storm at sea and they were the only survivors. According to the story, the two friends not knowing what to do agreed that they had no other way but to pray to God. However, to know whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the island. Having done this, they began to pray. First they prayed for food. The following morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the land, and he was able to eat its fruit. Unfortunately the other man’s prayer wasn't answered. His parcel of land remained barren. A week later, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife. Again his prayer was answered, the following day, another ship was wrecked, and the only survivor was a woman who swam to his side of the land. Meanwhile, on the other side of the island, there was nothing. After a while the first man prayed for a house, clothes, more food. The following day, miracle happened, all the items he prayed for were given to him. Unfortunately, the second man still had nothing. Lastly, the first man prayed for a ship, so that he and his wife could leave the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked at his side of the island. The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to leave the second man on the island. He considered the other man unworthy to receive God’s blessings, since none of his prayers had been answered. As the ship set out to leave, the first man heard a voice from heaven saying, “Why are you leaving your companion on the island?” “My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for them,” the first man answered. “His prayers were all unanswered and so he does not deserve anything.” “You are mistaken!” the voice rebuked him. “He had only one prayer, which I answered. If not for that, you would not have received any of my blessings.” “Tell me,” the first man asked the voice, “What did he pray for that I should owe him anything?” “He prayed that all your prayers be answered." My dear esteemed reader, a real friend should be like the second man in the story who prayed that God answers all his friend prayers.

THE BEAUTY OF A RIVER

SEASON TWO: DAY FOUR: Today’s Quote: “Never insult an alligator until after you have crossed the river.”-Cordell Hull Oftentimes, the dark, unending, winding, confusing, trials and tribulations are simply disguised to a glorious path. No matter how dark is the night it will always break into day. Let’s keep hope alive. Happy new day and I hope it's getting to a great start. Welcome to day four of “Andy Omoregie Daily Inspirational Dose” THE BEAUTY OF A RIVER: When I was a child growing up in my hometown Benin-City, I used to go to the river in my village. That was the source of our daily water. I was always fascinated by the calmness and stillness of the river. It’s just there waiting, as people of all ages would gather to fetch water or play by the river. With this I totally agree with Hal Boyle when he said, “What makes a river so restful to people is that it doesn't have any doubt - it is sure to get where it is going, and it doesn't want to go anyw...

SEASON TWO: DAY ONE: Today's Quote: “Life is an adventure of passion, risk, danger, laughter, beauty, love; a burning curiosity to go with the action to see what it is all about, to go search for a pattern of meaning, to burn one's bridges because you're never going to go back anyway, and to live to the end.” - Saul D.
